About Imperial Astrology
Free automated chart tools. Paid deep readings, generated from your chart and reviewed by a practitioner before delivery. Not fortune-telling. Not vague horoscopes.
What We Do
Imperial Astrology offers free chart tools for Zi Wei Dou Shu (Star Chart) and Four Pillars of Destiny (BaZi). Our software draws your chart and generates a first-pass interpretation automatically — weighing the palace combinations, tracing the transformations, and laying out the patterns in your birth data.
The free calculators do two things: they draw the chart accurately, and they produce a structured, automated reading of what the patterns mean for your tendencies, your timing, and your life rhythms. For a deeper layer — a practitioner's review of your life map — we offer paid deep readings generated from your chart and reviewed before delivery.
Free vs. Paid
Free Calculators
Your chart is drawn and interpreted automatically by our software — instant, consistent, and free. A clear outline of your patterns.
Paid Deep Readings
Generated from your specific birth data, then reviewed by a practitioner before it is sent — nuance, context, and a trained eye on your life map.
Our Approach
We do not make predictions. We do not tell you what will happen. We present patterns — clearly named, neutrally described. What you do with them is entirely yours.
The systems we use — ZWDS and BaZi — have been refined over centuries. Our chart calculation follows precise astronomical methods, including true solar time adjustment and lunar calendar conversion, so the chart you read is the chart you were born with. Free readings are generated automatically from these calculations; paid deep readings add human interpretation, grounded in the classical canon and in experience reading real charts.
Why We Built This
Most people go through life reacting to the same patterns without ever seeing them. We built the free tools to make the patterns visible to anyone — automatically and without cost. And we offer paid human readings for those who want more than a computer-generated chart — a trained eye on your life map. Not to replace your judgment — to give you a different lens for understanding yourself.
Methodology
Both ZWDS and BaZi calculations follow classical Chinese calendrical methods:
- Solar-to-lunar calendar conversion using precise astronomical data
- True solar time correction based on birth longitude
- Solar-term-based month boundaries (not lunar months)
- Gender-specific Luck Cycle direction (forward or reverse)
Free charts and free readings are generated automatically by our software. Paid deep readings are generated from your specific chart and reviewed by a practitioner before delivery. Each paid reading identifies where both systems agree — the strongest signals in your chart — and reads them in context, the way a practitioner would at the table.
About the Examples in Our Articles
Articles that use named or detailed examples (Sarah, Marcus, Elena, and similar) describe illustrative composites built from patterns that recur across many charts — not accounts of specific real clients. We use them to make a structural pattern concrete, not to imply a specific consultation.
About the Practitioner
Imperial Astrology is founded by Ying Rushi (应如是), a practitioner of both Zi Wei Dou Shu and BaZi. The site exists because the English-language material on these systems is thin, scattered, and often machine-translated — while the systems themselves are rich, structured, and practical. The articles, the star encyclopedia, and the reading frameworks on this site are prepared and reviewed by the practitioner directly, drawing on the classical canon and on experience reading charts.
Sources and Lineage
Our interpretations follow the classical Chinese canon: the Zi Wei Dou Shu Quan Shu (紫微斗數全書) for the Star Chart tradition, and the Yuan Hai Zi Ping (淵海子平), San Ming Tong Hui (三命通會), and Di Tian Sui (滴天髓) for Four Pillars. Where an article discusses a specific source, it is cited there.
The star reference itself — all 107 stars with archetypes, categories, and classical sources — is published as an open dataset: the ZWDS 107-star dataset, with methodology and provenance documented alongside it.
