Your Luck Cycle Timeline

Zi Wei Dou Shu divides life into decade-long luck cycles (大限), each activating a different palace of your chart. See all twelve on one timeline — and which one you are in right now.

Your timeline is calculated right in your browser — your birth details never leave this page. BaZi luck cycles are added only if you click the button below.

Optional: the Four Pillars engine adds its own decade map (大运). This is the only part of this page that sends your birth details to our server.

What luck cycles actually are

In Zi Wei Dou Shu, your chart is fixed at birth — but it does not stay static. A luck cycle (大限) is a ten-year window that activates one of the twelve palaces. The first cycle starts at a precise age calculated from the distance between your birth and the nearest solar term. From then on, every ten years the active palace moves, and with it the stars that color work, relationship, health and wealth.

Two rules decide the direction: your year pillar's polarity (Yang or Yin) and your gender. A Yang-year male or Yin-year female moves forward through the palaces; the reverse pair moves backward. The same birth moment can therefore produce two different orders of decades.

Reading your timeline

Each segment on the timeline names the palace that governs that decade and the stars it holds. A Wealth palace with the Heavenly Treasury reads very differently from a Wealth palace with the Broken Army star — not as fortune or misfortune, but as two different kinds of wealth experience. The Four Transformations mark the decades where your chart's native flow, will, reputation or friction concentrate.

How this timeline is calculated

The Zi Wei Dou Shu timeline is generated by the same deterministic engine as the Star Chart, running entirely in your browser. The start age follows the classical days-to-solar-term rule; palace order follows the gender and year-pillar direction rule. BaZi luck cycles use the equivalent Four Pillars rules on our server.
